Bamburi Cement was founded in 1951 and makes cement and concrete products, with its main plant at Bamburi in Mombasa and a grinding plant at Athi River. Long controlled by Lafarge and later Holcim, it changed hands in December 2024 when Holcim sold its 58.6 percent stake to Tanzania's Amsons Group. Trading in its shares on the NSE has since been suspended ahead of delisting following the Amsons takeover.
