Who runs KenyaStocks
KenyaStocks is a small, independent site built and run from Kenya by one person, who is responsible for every page and for answering mail about it. There is no newsroom, no outside contributors and no content written by a company that appears on the site.
The site is not a licensed market intermediary. It is not licensed by the Capital Markets Authority and does not act as a stockbroker, investment adviser or fund manager. Its whole output is data and general education, produced under the rules on this page. Mail goes to hello@kenyastocks.co.ke.
Why the site exists
The site started from questions Kenyans ask in public forums that had no plain answer in one place. Some of them, verbatim: "Can anybody explain 'in detail' how we can buy stocks and invest in Kenya's biggest companies? I'm sure many people are interested in it but don't know how." "Where can I find information on how to invest in the Nairobi Securities Exchange?" "Which broker do you use? How much do they charge on commissions, account maintenance? I have read most articles and most are just advertisements." "I'm in the US and I want to buy shares in a company that trades only on the NSE."
Behind them sit two simpler questions: how is this share doing, and how would I buy it. Every company page is built to answer the first with the day's close, the change, the volume and the record back to 2006 or 2007, and to point to a guide that answers the second. That is the whole scope; the site does not try to tell anyone what to buy.
What we publish and what we do not
We publish: the closing price, change, volume and key figures for every security listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange; the NSE All-Share Index; each company's sector, listing date and ISIN; headlines that mention a company, with a link to the publisher; guides that explain how the market works; and, where the record allows, what a past sum would have become at recorded prices.
We publish no recommendations, ratings, forecasts, predictions or target prices. No page says that a share is cheap or expensive, that it is time to act, or which shares are better than others. Words like these are kept out of the guides, the company pages and the legal pages by an automated check in the build, so a page that uses them cannot be released.
We also do not publish article text from other sites, intraday or streaming prices, user comments, or paid content of any kind.
Prices and figures
Every price on the site is an end-of-day closing figure for the Nairobi Securities Exchange; prices are by Mansa Markets. No page shows a live intraday price. "Change" is the day's close against the previous close, and the 52-week range is the lowest and highest close in the past year.
A suspended security keeps its last traded price and is labelled suspended. A figure that has not been published reads "Not yet available" rather than a guess, and a figure that looks wrong is held back until it is confirmed rather than shown. A page never shows a blank or a zero in place of a price.
Headlines
Headlines belong to the publishers who wrote them. Each one shows the headline, the publisher's name and the time, and opens on the publisher's site; we do not copy article text. A publisher's picture is shown only where that publisher has permitted it. A headline appears on a company page only when it is about that company, and any publisher can have a headline taken down by writing to us.
How pages are made
Company pages, the market board, sector pages and the news lists are templates filled from the day's data. The sentences on them (the price line, the key figures, the questions and answers) were written once and are completed with the numbers of the day; nothing on a data page is generated at request time by a language model.
The guides and these trust pages were drafted with an AI writing tool from the public sources listed at the end of each guide, then read, checked against those sources and edited by the person who runs the site, who is responsible for every sentence. A figure or rule in a guide is only as good as its source, which is why each one is cited; if a check fails, the passage is corrected or removed rather than left to stand.
Accuracy, corrections and takedowns
A wrong figure is corrected as soon as it is confirmed against the source, or withdrawn until the source confirms it. A guide that turns out to be wrong is corrected in place with its "Updated" date changed; a material correction is also noted at the end of the guide.
To report an error or to ask for material to be removed, write to hello@kenyastocks.co.ke with the page address and what is wrong. A headline is removed on request from its publisher, and a publisher can ask for all of its headlines to be left off the site; a company logo is replaced with the company's initials on request from the trade mark owner. This is the notice-and-takedown route in the Copyright Act, and the Terms of use describe it in full.
Dates
Every price on the site is a closing price, and the trading day it belongs to is stated in each page's description and in the company page's questions and answers rather than stamped across the page. When the exchange has closed for a day and the figures have not arrived, a notice under the header says so instead of showing yesterday's figures as today's; when the figures are current, nothing is shown.
Guides carry an "Updated" date that changes only when the content changes in substance: a new fee, a new rule, a corrected figure. Fixing a typo or a link does not move the date. Guides also carry a "Reviewed" date when they have been re-checked without changes. This page and the legal pages carry the date of their last substantive edit.
Independence and money
The site is paid for by Google AdSense advertising on the market board and company pages, and by nothing else. There is no sponsored content, no affiliate link, no paid placement of any broker, fund or company, and no payment from any company that appears on the site. Advertisers have no say in what is published and cannot buy a mention in a guide or a headline list.
If that ever changes, any partner content will be labelled as such on the page, its links will carry the sponsored attribute, and it will be held to the same rules as everything else. Pages written by a third party for its own promotion are not accepted, in whole or in part, under any label.
