What KenyaStocks is

KenyaStocks is a free reference for the Nairobi Securities Exchange. Every listed company has one page with its closing price, daily change, volume, key figures, the headlines that mention it and its price record back to 2006 or 2007. Around those pages sit the market board, the movers, the sector hubs, the NASI page, plain-English guides and a Backtest tool that shows what a regular sum put into one share would have become at recorded prices.

There are no accounts, no portfolios and no sign-up. KenyaStocks publishes no recommendations, ratings or target prices and does not tell anyone what to buy. It is not licensed by the Capital Markets Authority and does not act as a stockbroker, investment adviser or fund manager; the Disclaimer says this in full.

How the numbers are produced

Prices, volumes and the NSE All-Share Index (NASI) come from Mansa Markets, end of day. The exchange closes at 3 pm East Africa Time; one collection runs after the close on trading days and the pages re-render within 15 minutes of new figures landing. There is no intraday feed, so a price on KenyaStocks is always the last close. Weekly, the same source supplies market capitalisation, shares in issue and the 52-week range.

The record before the daily feed has three parts. Daily closes from 2006 or 2007 to the end of 2024 come from the University of Nairobi datasets published by B. Wanjawa on Mendeley Data under the CC BY 4.0 licence, with gaps filled from the kwoshvick NSE price crawler. Closes for 2025 and the first half of 2026 come from the same author's 2025 and 2026 datasets. Closes from 1 July 2026 come from Kingdom Securities' free Daily Market Wrap, which prints the exchange's official closing prices and index levels every trading day, with AIB-AXYS Africa's Daily Market Watch adding traded volumes for 1 July to 10 September 2026. Last-traded prices, volumes and company figures are by Mansa Markets, which also supplied the NASI history for 2025 to September 2026. One note on basis. Every close on this site is the NSE official close, which the exchange computes as a volume-weighted average of the day's trades and which Kingdom Securities prints each evening. Until that report is published, a company page may show the day's last traded price from Mansa Markets, which on some days differs from the official close by up to about one per cent; the official close replaces it the same evening or the next morning. Closes are unadjusted, so a share that split shows a step on that date rather than a smoothed line.

Company facts (ISIN, listing date, sector, aliases) are maintained by hand from NSE and company filings and re-synced whenever they change. A security the feed does not price yet reads “Not yet in feed” wherever a figure needs a trade, and a suspended counter is labelled as such.

How headlines are chosen

Headlines come from the public feeds of Kenyan business publishers: RSS feeds, news sitemaps and the exchange's own announcements, polled every 15 to 120 minutes while honouring each publisher's robots.txt and crawl delay. We keep the title, link, publisher and time, plus up to 200 characters of the feed's own description, which is used only to match a headline to a company and is never shown.

A headline is linked to a company when it names the company or one of its known aliases, such as a brand or a former name. A match the software is unsure about is not shown. Every headline opens on the publisher's site; the article itself is never copied.

Where a publisher's feed offers a picture for a headline, it is shown at small size beside the headline and credited to the publisher. A publisher that prefers not to be listed, or not to have its pictures shown, is removed from collection on request to hello@kenyastocks.co.ke, and the removal holds from the next collection run. Who runs KenyaStocks

KenyaStocks is an independent Kenyan project, built and run by one person from Nairobi. There is no company behind it, no newsroom and no outside contributors: the same person writes the guides, checks the figures and answers the mail. Nobody who appears on the site writes for it, and no company pays for a page.

The site is not a licensed market intermediary. What it publishes is data and general education, under the rules on Editorial standards.

How the site is funded

Google AdSense advertising, and nothing else: one advertisement on the market board and one on each company page. There is no sponsored content, no affiliate link and no paid placement of any broker, fund or company. Advertisers have no say in what is published, and no page mentions a broker in return for money.

Corrections and takedowns

Spotted a wrong figure, a mislinked headline or a page about your company that needs fixing? Email hello@kenyastocks.co.ke with the page address and what is wrong. A wrong figure is checked against its source and corrected on the page.

Publishers can have a headline or a picture removed and their feed excluded from future collection. Owners of a logo shown here can have it replaced by the company's initials. Company logos are trademarks of their respective owners and are used only to identify the listed company. A removal is honoured by the next collection run so it does not reappear.
