About KenGen
KenGen generates electricity for sale to Kenya Power and is Kenya's largest power producer. It was founded in 1954 as the Kenya Power Company and renamed in 1998; its headquarters are in Nairobi. Its plants include the Olkaria geothermal fields, the Seven Forks hydro dams, the Ngong wind farm and thermal plants. The government owns 70 percent; the other 30 percent was sold in a 2006 IPO at KES 11.90 per share.
