About Umeme
Umeme was Uganda's main electricity distributor, running the grid below 33 kV under a 20-year concession from 2005. It was formed in 2004 by a Globeleq and Eskom consortium and is based in Kampala. It listed on the Uganda Securities Exchange in 2012 and cross-listed on the NSE on 14 December 2012. The concession ended in 2025 with the assets handed to state-owned UEDCL.
