About the Commercial & Services sector

The widest mix on the exchange: Kenya Airways, the two newspaper groups Nation Media and Standard Group, the advertising firm WPP Scangroup, Serena hotels owner TPS Eastern Africa, publisher Longhorn, Sameer Africa, Express Kenya, Eveready East Africa, Homeboyz Entertainment, Nairobi Business Ventures and the retailers Uchumi and Deacons. Several of these are in restructuring or trade rarely, and some show as suspended, so the sector average covers only the counters that traded. What moves them is specific to each business: passenger numbers, advertising spend, tourism arrivals and the cost of imported paper and fuel.
